Richmond, VA – Melinda Hancock, the Chief Financial Officer of VCU Health, will chair the American Heart Association’s 2018 Richmond Heart Walk held Saturday, October 6th at Innsbrook Pavilion. Members of Hancock’s Executive Leadership team include: Anthony Conte, Pat Robertson, Brett Butler, Jim Litsinger, Jim Daniel, Ann Vaughters, Leigh Sewell, Walter Coleman, Brian Shaw, Tray Isley and Greg Lowe.
“I am excited to be part of the Heart Walk movement that rallies thousands to improve the health of our community and raise funds to address cardiovascular disease, our nation’s number one killer.” says Hancock. “It is times like this where actions speak louder than words. I walk to help my family and friends as well as families across the region to have healthier hearts.”
The Richmond Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premiere event for funding research and educational programs in the area to help prevent heart disease and stroke. Designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, this annual event is a non-competitive, 1-mile or 5K walk in which teams are created by local companies and community members.
The Richmond Heart Walk is sponsored locally by VCU Health, Bon Secours Richmond, JenCare and Sheehy Auto Stores. Please help the local American Heart Association chapter and the volunteer leadership team meet its fundraising goal by registering for the walk or making a donation at the Richmond Heart Walk website, www.richmondvaheartwalk.org.
Our mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. For nearly 100 years, we’ve been fighting heart disease and stroke, striving to save and improve lives. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. Even when those conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life. We want to see a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
