Blair Sucher says she was destined to become a mother her whole life. On July 17, 2017, her and her husband welcomed Robert “Jones” Sucher into the world. They were overcome with joy and could not wait for the journey ahead. However, the next year would bring hardship as they found out about Jones’ congenital heart defect and the need for a heart transplant.
Although the road has offered many difficult moments, the family feels incredibly blessed that Jones’ transplant surgery was a success. They reside in Spartanburg, SC and have celebrated many “firsts” with baby Jones….including his first steps!
This February, Blair looks to raise understanding for congenital heart defects. Her desire is to give back since she was given the greatest gift of all….the gift of life. Jones’ recovery process will continue throughout his lifetime which is one of the many reasons the Sucher family is passionate about raising awareness and funds for the American Heart Association. Join the AHA and the Sucher family as we celebrate Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week February 7-14. Blair will be taking to social media to educate the community and unite CHD families across the Upstate. Follow Jones’ story on Instagram at @wecarryyourheart to learn more!
Our mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. For nearly 100 years, we’ve been fighting heart disease and stroke, striving to save and improve lives. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. Even when those conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life. We want to see a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
