Throughout 2019, the American Heart Association will be launching a series of videos highlighting key community events and efforts. Through programs at the community level, the American Heart Association is carrying out their mission of being a relentless force for longer, healthier lives. From blood pressure initiatives to local research studies, the fight against heart disease is in full swing in the Upstate community.
This month, the American Heart Association worked alongside Dr. Will Richardson, an assistant professor at Clemson University. After receiving a grant, he continues to dedicate himself to discovering effective drug strategies for healing those who have been affected by heart disease. Our mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. For nearly 100 years, we’ve been fighting heart disease and stroke, striving to save and improve lives. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. Even when those conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life. We want to see a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
