On December 6, leaders from across South Carolina gathered in Charleston and recognized more than 100 clinics from across the state for their commitment to the Target: BP Initiative Program. Launched in 2017, the Target: BP Recognition Program is an extension of Target: BP™ – a national initiative between the American Heart Association and American Medical Association aimed at addressing the growing burden of high blood pressure in the United States. Of the 128 sites recognized at the Gold level in South Carolina, 122 received training and support from the Care Coordination Institute (CCI). The event took place at the Cooper River Room and was led by Dr. Brent Egan, VP of Research for the Care Coordination Institute and Dr. Jauch of MUSC.
Our mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. For nearly 100 years, we’ve been fighting heart disease and stroke, striving to save and improve lives. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. Even when those conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life. We want to see a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
