This February, Dr. Yallapragada, incoming board president of the Midlands, and Dr. Brent Eagan, incoming board president of the Upstate, shared their knowledge of stroke and blood pressure by presenting to local communities in the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate.
Dr. Eagan traveled to Baltimore, MD to present to area Federally Qualified Health Centers about Target: BP. In addition to giving an overview of the Target: BP program, Dr. Eagan shared the success of Target: BP initiatives in South Carolina.
In the Midlands, Dr. Yallapragada presented about stroke risk at Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community. Still Hopes engages with AHA in many ways like participating in the Heart Walk and in Workplace Health Solutions. This was a great way to give back while helping to educate that community.
Our mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. For nearly 100 years, we’ve been fighting heart disease and stroke, striving to save and improve lives. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. Even when those conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life. We want to see a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
