To celebrate National Walking Day, Charleston launched a “Pick Your Park” social media campaign. The campaign featured four local parks which were designed by local sponsor, Seamon Whiteside. Community members were encouraged to post a picture by tagging the Lowcountry facebook page and using the hashtag #pickyourpark. It was a great way to engage the lowcountry and encourage everyone to get moving!
Also in Charleston, Dr. Jean Ruddy of MUSC talked about the benefits of walking on the WCIV morning show. She encouraged viewers to lace up their sneakers and walk at least thirty minutes a day. The WCIV crew even sported their tennis shoes and encouraged viewers to get out and get fit. Check out the segment here.
Our mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. For nearly 100 years, we’ve been fighting heart disease and stroke, striving to save and improve lives. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. Even when those conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life. We want to see a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
