Newborn heart screening bill moving quickly in North Carolina

Yesterday was a successful day for us in North Carolina as we advocated for HB 105, which would add pulse oximetry to the newborn screening panel. This measure will catch congenital heart defects (CHD) before leaving the hospital and save lives!  We cannot thank our amazing volunteers, legislative supporters and Carolina Panther, Greg Olsen enough for sharing their passion for HB 105.

The bill passed the House Health Committee on a unanimous vote and is headed for the House floor. Supporters say they hope to have it on the governor’s desk “in a couple of weeks.  Here is a video of yesterday’s highlights.
