The American Heart Association (AHA) is proud to announce that Katherine and Dirk Pieper will serve as co-chairs of the 2020 Upstate Heart Ball. The 2020 event marks the 20th anniversary of the Upstate gala and will take place on March 14 at the Greenville Convention Center.
“Katherine and I are honored to chair this prestigious event,” said Dirk Pieper. “Over the past 20 years we have taken major steps towards a healthier community however our work is not done. We look forward to joining forces with other local leaders as we come together to fight the number one killer in the Upstate”.
In their roles as co-chairs, the Piepers will work diligently with community members and executive leaders to support the Upstate Heart Ball and expand the American Heart Association’s mission. Dirk is currently President and CEO of Sage Automotive Interiors. He has a BS in Chemistry from Washington and Lee University and an MBA from Clemson University. Katherine is an active volunteer. She obtained a BA in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from Clemson University. Katherine and Dirk have four children and reside in Greenville. They have been enthusiastic supporters of the American Heart Association and served on the 2019 Upstate Heart Ball’s Executive Leadership Team.
“Whether it’s teaching CPR in the community, or providing education on early detection, or funding research for treatments, the American Heart Association is devoted to fighting cardiovascular disease and we are delighted to support this cause,” said Katherine. “The role of the AHA has personal meaning to us because both of our families and several close friends have been impacted by heart disease.”
The black-tie event will host over 900 guests representing medical, business and social groups from the area. The gala features dinner, dancing, a live and silent auction and honors local families affected by heart disease and stroke. Through the generous support of the community and Life is Why sponsor Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, the American Heart Association can continue funding research and educational programs in the Upstate.
