On June 6, the North Carolina Team hosted 30 advocates and staff for Go Red For Women Day at the Legislature. Advocates visited every legislative office urging them to support full-funding for a statewide healthy corner store initiative. Displays were set up to give people the opportunity to take their blood pressure, learn Hands-Only CPR, pick up healthy living information, and learn more about AHA programs.
The day’s highlight was lunch with the NC Women’s Legislative Caucus where Dr. Paula Miller, Director of the UNC Women’s Health Program, presented on women and cardiovascular health. The event was planned through funding from the National Center Go Red Team and represented great collaboration between the health strategies and development teams across the state.
Our mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. For nearly 100 years, we’ve been fighting heart disease and stroke, striving to save and improve lives. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. Even when those conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life. We want to see a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
