I am extremely excited to share that Chuck Bartlett has been awarded the American Heart Association’s highest staff honor, the 2012 Earl Beagle Award for Staff Excellence. This award signifies outstanding staff leadership and achievement. It is a performance-based award named for Earl B. Beagle, who began his career with the American Heart Association as a field representative in 1957. Beagle held several positions in his 26-year career and was greatly respected for his loyalty and strong leadership. Nominees are ranked on their leadership, results orientation, planning skills, organizing and controlling, ability to manage individuals and groups, significant impact on the American Heart Association and consistent superior performance. This Award is only given to one staff person annually and Chuck will be recognized at the Gold Heart Awards Banquet as part of the June National Board meetings in Dallas.
Chuck started his American Heart Association career with the Virginia Affiliate in 1983, serving as VP of Finance. In 1985 Chuck was promoted to Deputy EVP for the Virginia Affiliate and served in this position until 1998 when Virginia merged with Maryland, DC, North Carolina, and South Carolina to form the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate. Upon the formation of the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, Chuck was chosen as the Senior Vice President of Operations. Later he was selected as the Senior Vice President of Health Strategies, the position in which he currently serves.
Over his 29 years with the AHA, Chuck has been in senior leadership positions impacting all areas of the affiliate including Fundraising, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities, Health and Customer Strategies. He has excelled in each of these areas leaving a lasting impact.
The AHA is stronger and more successful organization because of Chuck. Chuck is extremely well respected within our affiliate as well as nationally. He has well thought out and articulate comments that add great value to any discussion and he is often sought out to participate in strategy sessions and task forces. He plays this role often with the MAA senior team and has been a great partner to me in my role as EVP.
Chuck’s true openness to change has allowed him to continue to drive new ideas to make our mission come to life. His continuous innovation has led to countless awards for him and his team. As someone who always puts others first, it is great to be able to recognize him with this honor and let him step into the spotlight to be recognized.
Please join me in congratulating Chuck.
