Midlands, SC – On Thursday, October 18, Lizzie Smith, Executive Assistant in the Midlands AHA office, was named 2018 Outstanding Rising Star by the Association of Fundraising Professionals SC, Central Carolina Chapter.
Lizzie received this award because of her lifelong passion for promoting and supporting heart health. As a survivor of a congenital heart defect and open-heart surgery at the age of four, she is living the mission of the American Heart Association every day.
At just five years old, Lizzie was awarded “Outstanding Little Heart” in 2000 and “Top Fundraiser” in 2004. Over the nine years post-surgery, Lizzie helped to raise over $60,000 for the AHA. Now Lizzie is giving back to the organization and the Midlands community in her role with the American Heart Association. Congratulations Lizzie!
